Now, Sandler is confirmed to be doing a second dramatic effort for Netflix, titled The Spaceman of Bohemia...which will be directed by Johan Renck who last year was at the helm of the acclaimed HBO limited series Chernoybl. Renck has also been known for his direction of a wide array of drama-focused series such as Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Vikings. Renck released the following statement regarding his involvment:
“As we prepare for our voyage to Chopra, I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the perfect partner in Adam,. And now, with the support of the brilliant Netflix family, I am profoundly excited to set off on our impossible journey.”
Based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Jaroslav Kalfar, the story focuses on an astronaut selected to go on a dangerous mission...to travel to a mysterious cloud of particles called Chopra, suspended between Earth and Venus, and collect samples to find out what it is. But once he leaves Earth, the astronaut, according to the plot of the novel, “finds his earthly life falling to pieces and he turns to the only voice who can help him try to put it back together. It just so happens to belong to a creature from the beginning of time lurking in the shadows of his ship.”
The film is being penned by Colby Day, making his feature-length debut after having only written and directed short films before this film. Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, Peter Kiernan, and Michael Parets will serve as producers. Stay tuned!
