While David Hasselhoff got a cameo in the second Guardians of the Galaxy (and filmed a music video for the film), the big fish that many viewers have wanted to see dance off against Peter Quill is none other than Kevin Bacon. Bacon and his popular 1980's film Footloose have been referenced throughout the GOTG films along with a reference in Avengers: Infinity War in which Quill, upon talking to Peter Parker learned that it was not in fact "the greatest movie ever made". That being said, in a recent interview with Esquire, Bacon discussed that if he ever was given the opportunity, he would gladly cameo in the upcoming third GOTG film, saying “Listen, I love the idea. I would love to be part of that.”
Bacon also spoke in the interview how shocked he was to see his name brought up in the first film:
"When I saw Guardians of the Galaxy, I went to see it having no idea that I was discussed... It was an afternoon in New York, I was on 67th Street and went by myself, as I often do... I was like, ‘Holy sh*t. They're talking about me. Are you guys getting this?’"
Obviously, a cameo by Bacon would be a nice way to come full circle from the first film's dance-off finale in which Quill, inspired by Footloose, danced to distract Ronan the Accuser while Drax and Rocket went for his Infinity Stone-powered warhammer. Principal photography for Vol. 3 is expected to begin in the Fall with a release date of May 5th, 2023. In short...James Gunn...if you're reading this...bring home the Bacon! Stay tuned!
