As the Cannes Film Festival prepares to finish up tomorrow (July 17th), several movies are releasing clips that show some of the more artistic indie films audiences will get to see themselves soon. Sean Baker's Red Rocket revealed it's first look clip yesterday and now Gaspar Noé's newest film Vortex reveals a brief tease into a story that simply has been described as about "the last days of an elderly couple". Even more intriguing is the official synopsis which is "Life is a short party that will soon be forgotten" along with the fact the film is shot like a documentary. Though, without a doubt the biggest strange factor is that the male half of the couple is played by horror filmmaking legend Dario Argento. Though never known for his acting, the clip released today shows him giving a raw performance that plays off his female counterpart, actress Françoise Lebrun, with utter gusto. Check it out below:
Vortex also stars Alex Lutz. It has no official release date yet.
On the more commercial side, The Green Knight, the latest film of David Lowery (A Ghost Story, The Old Man & the Gun) is set to land in theaters on July 30th. The official trailer released back in May already put on display the beautiful visuals and cinematography that will be on display in this big screen adaptation of the poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. But the official clip released today equally shows that not only is the film just glitz and glamour, but will utilize it's visuals to bring to life the fantastical lore of the fantasy setting. Check it out below:
The Green Knight stars Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Barry Keoghan, and Ralph Ineson.
