EPIX's "War of the Worlds" Debuts Official Season 2 Trailer

The EPIX series War of the World obviously insn't trying to be faithful to H.G. Wells' original classic sci-fi novel. Not only does it switch the story to modern time, but in this version of the story, the aliens actually win their initial invasion of Earth, dwindling humans down to a small batch of survivors. Now the upcoming second season will see humans trying to figure out who their invaders are and how to stop them. The official synopsis released today for season 2 is below:

In the first season of War of the Worlds, an alien attack all but wiped out mankind, with just a handful of humans fighting to survive. And no one felt more rocked by the invasion than Emily (Played by Daisy Edgar-Jones), who discovered she may have her own strange personal connection to the aliens. Season two of War of the Worlds sees our characters left reeling by the possibility that the invaders could be human. A tense fight to take back the planet awaits them. For some, the sheer desperation to survive will lead them to contemplate sacrificing one of their own…

The series also stars Gabriel Byrne, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Léa Drucker, Natasha Little, Stéphane Caillard, Adel Bencherif, Ty Tennant, Stephen Campbell Moore, Bayo Gbadamosi, Aaron Heffernan, and Emilie de Preissac. Writer-creator Howard Overman (Misfits, Merlin) is the showrunner. Check out the trailer for season 2 below and watch it when it returns to EPIX on June 6th:
