Featurette: "A Quiet Place Part II" Opening Scene Deconstruction

 

In Vanity Fair’s latest “Notes on a Scene” video, writer/director Krasinski goes into great technical detail about the opening scene of A Quiet Place Part II, a film that surprised with an impressive $57 million four-day opening weekend last and also was released to stunning reviews (currently holding a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes). A third film is already anticipated.


The video released today showcases the intense alien invasion scene where the Abbott family’s small town is besieged by sound-sensitive monsters. This scene was prevalent in the promotion for the film, including one of the trailers so there are no spoilers. However, Krasinski was determined to bring a lot to the scene from capturing it from the perspective of deaf co-star Millicent Simmonds (who plays the character of Regan Abbott) to how he at first was experimenting with doing the scene in one-take.
