Shot in mid-2020 in British Columbia, Canada, Neill Blomkamp's newest feature Demonic is outside the sci-fi preferences of his previous works, though he dares to offer an anticipation with the first look video he has released today that presents behind-the-scenes footage with 8mm film. Little is known about the film except it focuses on a young woman who unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades-old rift between mother and daughter are ruthlessly revealed. Actors Carly Pope, Nathalie Boltt, and Chris William Martin are among those leading the case. Check out the footage below:
The film recently was sold to IFC Films (and their subsidiary IFC Midnight) at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival this past March, during the industry Film Market section though it wasn't publicized. Through IFC, the film will opening in theaters and VOD on August 20. This explains the now sudden release of promotional material, including two new official photos of the film:
