Netflix's upcoming film Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, based on the award-winning August Wilson-written play of the same name, was simply intended as a potential award contender. Now, it will serve as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman whose final performance lies in this film. He will play Levee, a young, ambitious trumpeter who aspired to make his own mark in the music industry and in the film is the boyfriend of trailblazing blues singer Ma Rainey (Played by Viola Davis). The story will primarily focus on her in Chicago in 1927 as she grapples with issues ranging from race to exploitation. With the film expected to be released on December 18th, first look photos have been released today. Check them out below:
