More and more, actors from the big screen are transitioning to the small screen. Not just for an occasional project, but continuously as actress Nicole Kidman alone displays with a slew of TV roles. Why? Often the argument is that television has lately offered more character-driven work, not bound by the rigid standards expected for the big screen (The blockbuster or films meant to fit the preferences of Oscar voters). It's probably for this reason that Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet, who has more than cemented herself in cinema and could get any job she wants, has chosen to return to the small screen. The last time we saw her was in the acclaimed miniseries Mildred Pierce, though her upcoming limited series Mare of Easttown sees her take on a more gritty role, playing a detective in a small Pennsylvania town who investigates a local murder while trying to keep her life from falling apart.
Today, the official teaser for the show has been released. Check it out below:
Mare of Easttown is set to premiere on HBO on April 18.
