Idris Elba has been around for nearly 30 years in the business, but it's only in the last decade he's really come to prominence from his starring role in the acclaimed series Luther or his supporting role as the all-seeing, all-hearing Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But lately he's been working a lot in the action genre, leading the massive ensemble for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. And now, he's set to star in a spec script written by Tyler Marceca that Warner Bros. just won in an auction, titled Stay Frosty. Below was the pitch given when Elba's casting was announced:
After miraculously surviving a bullet to the head, a man has to figure out who wants him dead and why. He needs to stop the assassin while still making it back home in time to spend Christmas with his son.
The only other thing revealed announced was that director Sam Hargrave, who made his directorial debut with the Chris Hemsworth-starring Netflix film Extraction, is set to direct this film. Extraction was particularly liked for it's action scenes which makes sense given Hargrave was a stunt man, stunt coordinator, and second unit director for the 15 years before he turned to directing. So, if anything, we can expect an energetic action tale. Stay tuned!
