It's official, the sequel game to the 2019 hit Judgment will be titled Lost Judgment. The first game, which itself is a spin-off to the Yakuza game series, followed the character of Takayuki Yagami (Voiced by Takuya Kimura) as a disgraced lawyer turned detective. The sequel will see Yagami once again try to solve the mystery surrounding a gruesome murder. While Yakuza series executive director Toshihiro Nagoshi said, the sequel will expand on Yagami’s story as he deals with the fallout from a guilty verdict handed down in Japanese court, Kimura added that beyond the grim murder that propels the plot, he’ll also have to go undercover at a local high school.
Discussing the technical qualities of the game, Lost Judgment will be set in both Kamurocho in Tokyo and Yokohama, the latter of which game producer Kazuki Hosokawa says will have day-to-night mechanics along with a highly detailed setting, particular the high school Yagami is undercover in. The high school will play an important part in the story with Yagami completing “School Stories" (as Hosokawa refers to them) which are side missions that he claims are “full of laughs, tears, struggles, and maybe even a little suspense too.” Yagami will get a combat upgrade, both having access to multiple fighting styles as well as improved stealth, traversal, and investigation mechanies. The high school setting will offer other varied gameplay mechanics as well.
This was all announced today with a trailer that is more than five minutes long that shows all these features in action. Check it out below:
Lost Judgment will launch worldwide on September 24th on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
