While unusual, the title for 2001's Vanilla Sky is a reference to depictions of skies in certain impressionistic paintings by artist Claude Monet. In particular, Monet's 1873 painting The Seine at Argenteuil serves as a major inspiration. That piece of artwork is actually featured in the film to emphasize this connection. Stay tuned!
