Imagine Clark Griswold from Vacation having to contend with a machine uprising. Well, you don't have to imagine that anymore as The Mitchells vs. the Machines seems determined to test that scenario out for you. Though, unlike Vacation, it's about a family taking their college-bound daughter to a university before suddenly needing to change priorities and save the world with the help of two malfunctioning robots.
After a series of theatrical delays (In large part because of the COVID-19 pandemic), this film that was originally titled Connected until recently will land on Netflix on April 30th. The Mike Rianda-directed film (Who also voices the family's son, Aaron) has the benefit of being produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller whose taste in projects is often quite consistent whether it's as directors or producers. Whether the trailer released today emboldens that confidence is up to you. Check out the trailer below:
The Mitchells vs. the Machines features the voices of Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Eric Andre, and Olivia Colman.
