Based on the non-fiction book Twelve Mighty Orphans: The Inspiring True Story of the Mighty Mites Who Ruled Texas Football by author Jim Dent, 12 Mighty Orphans is a sports film that will leave an impression based on how much audiences want to deal with their own financial struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic. As smaller businesses have been forced to shut down and some having been closed down for good, the synopsis may describe a film set in the past but might be all too relatable for people now:
Haunted by his mysterious past, a devoted high school football coach (Played by Luke Wilson) leads a scrawny team of orphans to the state championship during the Great Depression and inspires a broken nation along the way.
Today, the official trailer for the film has been released. Check it out below:
12 Mighty Orphans is directed by Ty Roberts (Who co-wrote the script with Lane Garrison and Kevin Meyer). It is scheduled to be released in a limited release on June 11th, followed by a wide expansion on June 18th.
