Filmmaker Craig Gillespie returns to the dark comedy route for his next project, the Apple TV+ series Physical that looks to reprise the kind of twisted humor he utilized in his hit film I, Tonya. A tone the new trailer makes sure to confirm.
The new series, which Gillespie will direct several episodes of, sees Rose Byrne in the lead role of Sheila Rubin, a quietly tormented housewife in ’80s San Diego. Behind closed doors, she battles extreme personal demons and a vicious inner voice. But things change when she discovers aerobics, sparking a journey toward empowerment and success.
