It honestly seemed like Chaos Walking, based on the first book of author Patrick Ness's sci-fi trilogy Chaos Walking (2008's The Knife of Never Letting Go), was never going to be released. Shot back in 2017, with Ness himself adapting his book alongside screenwriter Christopher Ford, the film had a troublesome production history requiring costly reshoots that were delayed until 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic further pushed it back, but now, it's official set to be released on January 22, 2021 which, hopefully this time, will actually happened. The synopsis is as follows:
In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Played by Tom Holland) discovers Viola (Played by Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by "the Noise" – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola's life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet's dark secrets.
