The Netflix film Stowaway is an example of an actor trying to break from their usual mold. In this case, comedic actress Anna Kendrick who takes on the role of Zoe Levenson, a medical researcher on a spaceship crew headed to Mars who discovers an accidental stowaway shortly after takeoff. With the crew too far from Earth to turn back and with resources quickly dwindling, Zoe emerges as the only dissenting voice against the group consensus that has already decided in favor of a grim outcome for the stowaway.
The film is directed by Joe Penna whose directorial effort Arctic was the talk of the town back in 2018. Taking on a similar story of people pushed to surviving extreme conditions, the trailer for Stowaway conveys a potential claustrophobic tale. Check it out below:
Stowaway co-stars Daniel Dae Kim, Shamier Anderson, and Toni Collette. It is set to be released on Netflix on April 22nd.
This is a not very subtle movie about migrants.
