Extra! Extra! Tom Hanks ONCE AGAIN becomes the source of good feelings and ideals. At least his character is in the upcoming Paul Greengrass film News of the World, based on Paulette Jiles’ 2016 novel. The character of Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd, a widower and veteran of three wars; a traveling bard of sorts who presents news of presidents and queens, glorious feuds, devastating catastrophes, and gripping adventures from the far reaches of the globe.
A character who, like any Hanks' role, does the right thing because he should. In this case, transporting Johanna (Helena Zengel), a ten-year-old he meets in Texas during his travels that has been raised most of her life by the Kiowa people. And now, as they travel across the country to reunite Johanna with her biological aunt and uncle, they will confront challenges natural and human to get her home.
Following its first TV spot released earlier this month (See it here), the official trailer for the film has now been "published". Check it out below:
