Official Trailer: "Old"

M. Night Shyamalan's best films thrive in a mixture of philosophy and mystery. In other words, he likes to try and tie the unknown to the inexplicable that audiences can relate to. Whether it's Unbreakable explaining the potential real-world origin of superheroes or Signs trying to bridge faith to science fiction, he brings his best work when he keeps his ideas somewhat in the shadows. Whether Old can rise to the occasion of his best work won't be known until it lands in theaters on July 23rd. However, as the film is based off the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters, he at least is afforded a foundation that could serve in his best interests.

The story follows a family on vacation near a mysterious beach, who begins rapidly aging by unclear means. And as the full trailer released today demonstrates, the results will be both terrifying and existential:

Old stars Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Alex Wolff, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Embeth Davidtz, Emun Elliott, and Kathleen Chalfant.
