Australian author Jane Harper's debut novel The Dry was quite the hit when it was released in 2016. It not only sold more than 1 million copies worldwide, it also won numerous international awards. So there is some anticipation for the upcoming cinematic adaptation of the book which is produced by Roadshow Films. The synopsis is as follows:
The story follows Federal Police agent Aaron Falk (Played by Eric Bana) who returns to his hometown of Kiewarra for the funeral of his childhood best friend, Luke Hadler, whose found dead alongside his family in their farmhouse in an apparent murder-suicide. At first, it seems to make sense given severe drought has put the town under extreme pressure thus leaving the farming community struggling and desperate. Despite being rejected by the community twenty years earlier, the circumstances around the deaths of the Hadlers haunts Falk and compels him to dig deeper into the events leading up to the tragedy.
Today, the official trailer for the film has been released. Check it out below:
The Dry co-stars Genevieve O’Reilly and Kier O’Donnell. It is directed by Robert Connolly. It doesn't have a US release date yet, but is confirmed to be released in Australia on New Year's Day.
it's one of the last decent spielberg flicks...dude got old and made mostly shitty movies from 2005-2020
@Rambo: I really need to see “Munich”. It was always hard to find but now it’s on HBO Max so I can check it out!
you're probably right. he was also good in 'munich' which i think was his last major role in a big time Hollywood movie.
@Rambo: Strangely I think “Hulk” derailed him. He was good in it for what it was, but I think once he got that role he got associated with it and for years there was anticipation for a sequel that never happened. By then, he sort of went obscure. Still, strong actor. He was also good in “Troy” and “Funny People” he showed he could be goofy to with a self-seriousness.
I thought Bana will become a big star after watching him in 'Black Hawk Down' but unfortunately it didn't happen.
