Poster: M. Night Announces "Old" Production

The inspiration for M. Night Shyamalan's next feature is actually from a Father's Day gift he received in the form of the graphic novel Sandcastle, written by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters. However, M. Night's next film Old will only use this as a starting point for his own feature. And today, he's teased production underway for the film (In the Dominican Republic) with both a photo of himself with a clapboard along with a piece of eerie key art. Check the Twitter post out below:

To get an idea what might happen, Sandcastle was about a group of people who find they are unable to escape a mysterious, secluded beach after discovering a dead body there and becoming aware of a secret surrounding time that keeps them from leaving. However, while this may hint at what M. Night's film will be about, the fact the movie is not a direct adaptation indicates anything goes. The fact M. Night has managed to keep this production a secret (At least to begin with) is a sign he's working to truly surprises audiences this time.

Old stars Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Aaron Pierce, Vicky Krieps, Alex Wolff, Abbey Lee, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Gael García Bernal, Ken Leung, Rufus Sewell, Embeth Davidtz, and Emun Elliott. It is set to hit theaters July 23, 2021.
