Dropping exclusively on the PlayStation 5 at the end of this month (April 30th), the upcoming third-person science fiction shooter Returnal has released a new gameplay trailer titled "Hostiles" that showcases the various creatures that the Selene (Played by Anne Beyer) will face on the alien world of Atropos. Some have been named in past marketing efforts such as Automatons, a Gorgolith, and a Titanops while the new trailer also hints at the Infected Scout, a creature that strongly resembles Selene herself. Some have postulated that these scouts tie into the mechanics and plot of the game as Selene is stuck in a time loop and is resurrected over and over every time she dies. The theory is the scouts serve as a haunting remnant of failed playthroughs by the player.
Whether that's true or not, the new trailer indicates a highly engaging game, filled with creatures of immense complexity. Check it out below:
