It's been leaked for awhile that a sixth Battlefield was on the way, now it's been made official with the reveal trailer for Battlefield 2042 landing online today confirming most of the leaks, namely that it will be a multiplayer-only shooter. However, the game will have a near-future setting that permits some wild gameplay elements.
The game will be set in a world collapsing thanks to catastrophic environmental effects and destructive technology. As a result of this setting, a key element of the gameplay will be tornadoes within the map that can fling players, debris, and vehicles around the map. However, players will have the playing field leveled with gear such as wingsuits. Following other massive online games, the map will allow for up to 128 players in a single match and now it's confirmed the game will be available on October 22th with gameplay to be unveiled on July 13th. For now, check out the reveal trailer below:
Battlefield 2042 is set to be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. Stay tuned!
