Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go For It may have a long-winded title, but perhaps the length appropriately matches the range of influence the legendary Puerto Rican actress had on cinema. While most know her for her breakthrough, Oscar-winning performance in West Side Story in 1961, Moreno has the rare achievement of holding the title EGOT, meaning she has earned Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards.
The documentary will span her entire life, from her humble origins of immigrating to New York City with her mother when she was five to her rise through Hollywood and her battle with both depression and discrimination. The film will also feature details about her noted relationship with legendary actor Marlon Brando though don't expect kind words of Don Corleone in that regard. In addition, several Hollywood greats are interviewed, delving into her memorable impressions on them.
