Tessa Thompson has been making moves the last few years, especially in big franchises such as Creed films and the MCU along with a role in the HBO show Westworld. But usually it was playing second fiddle to other characters. For the new film Sylvie's Love, Thompson takes center stage as the titular character, a woman working at her father's record store in Harlem in the late 1950's when she meets an aspiring saxophone player. As the title implies, love blossoms and as the new trailer shows, a dramatic journey ensues:
Sylvie's Love co-stars Nnamdi Asomugha, Ryan Michelle Bathe, Regé-Jean Page, Aja Naomi King, and Eva Longoria. It is written and directed by Eugene Ashe. The film debuted at Sundance earlier this year and was acquired by Amazon soon after with it's release date on Prime set to be Christmas Day (December 25th). Stay tuned!
