Before her leap to blockbusters next year with Marvel's Eternals, up-and-comer Chloe Zhao, who blew audience away with her critically-acclaimed debut The Rider a few years ago, also managed to shoot the smaller road film Nomadland, based on the 2017 novel by author Jessica Bruder.
The story will follow Fern (Played by Frances McDormand) who, following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. Zhao serves not only as director for the film but also wrote, edited, and co-produced this feature that is making it's debut before at the Venice and Toronto film festivals before it releases in theaters on December 4th.
