The first Hardy Boys book, titled The Tower Treasure, debuted in 1927. Nearly 100 years later, and countless iterations, the characters have managed to remain popular with books still being published centered around the characters originally created by American writer Edward Stratemeyer, the founder of book-packaging firm Stratemeyer Syndicate. Thanks to the books themselves having been written by several ghostwriters under the collective pseudonym Franklin W. Dixon since the first book, they have been able to evolve with the times and remain highly popular. Shows have been made before and at one point a film about them as adults (Titled Hardy Men) was in development with the likes of Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller in the mix at one point. Now, a new series is set to arrive on Hulu with a thirteen-episode first season.
However, while the books often see them traveling, this version will see them arriving in the town of Bridgeport and remaining there. Here, they must uncover the truth behind the recent tragedy that has changed their lives, and in doing so, uncover something much more sinister. Obviously, very different from the classic takes on the characters. Today, the official trailer has been revealed showing just how different they might be from the original iteration. Check it out below:
The Hardy Boys are set to premiere on Hulu on December 4th.
Looks like CW shit.
