On a personal note, it's gotten bizarre to me why people like watching reality shows. It seems the response I often get is "It's fun watching rich people mess up". Well...that's the PG response I get anyway. But if there is anything the new Netflix reality series Bling Empire indicates, it's that fascination to see successful people reveal their worst side. Is this a way that regular people feel better about our own lives? Perhaps. Although it's often been stated the irony of the term "reality show" when clearly things are being played up for drama.
At the end of the day, Bling Empire is simply the most recent in a tradition of following a particular group of privileged people. In this case, LA's wildly wealthy Asian and Asian American fun seekers as they go all out with fabulous parties, glamour, and drama. Check out the official trailer for it below:
