Rutherford Falls is a new series who original idea was conceived by Ed Helms (Who will star in the series) and Michael Schur (Who had previously worked with Helms on The Office). However, once the initial concept was figured out, centering on the relationship between members of a fictional Native American reservation and residents of a neighboring small town in upstate New York, Helms and Schur decided to bring in Navajo filmmaker Sierra Teller Ornelas. Using this to create an authentic experience (And featuring a writer's room with half the writers being of indigenous heritage), the trio look determined to have some laughs about cultural disassociation between two very different groups of people.
