While Jamie Foxx has been teasing his physical preparation to play Mike Tyson in a Antoine Fuqua-directed series about the famed boxer, it is actually one of two biopic series focused on Tyson. The second one, titled Iron Mike, is set up over at Hulu and will follow his rise through the ranks of boxing before becoming the heavyweight champion at the age of 20 along with his rape conviction in the 1990's and his three years in prison. Now, this second series has cast it's Tyson.
It's been confirmed that Trevante Rhodes will take on the lead role with the series the creation of screenwriter Steven Rogers (I, Tonya) though Karin Gist is attached as the showrunner while Rogers’ I, Tonya collaborator Craig Gillespie is directing the series (This follows confirmation earlier today that Gillespie will also direct episodes of his Apple TV+ series Physical). Gist is also serving as producer. Production has yet to get a start date and a premiere date has not been announced either. Stay tuned!
