B.B. King is considered one of the most influential and respected blues musicians of all time. There is a reason for this. Ignoring, for a moment, his recording career spanning nearly six decades over more than forty studio albums, King was known for introducing a sophisticated style of soloing based on fluid string bending and shimmering vibrato that would influence many later blues electric guitar players. He not only is nicknamed "The King of the Blues", but is also considered one of the "Three Kings of the Blues Guitar", alongside Albert King and Freddie King (No relation). And, as a bonus fact, he was a tireless performer well into his 70's, appearing on average at more than 200 concerts per year. With that kind of influence, it's amazing it took even 5 years after his death in 2015 (At age 89) for a film to be made that is focused on him, In any case, today it's been confirmed that actor Wendell Pierce will play the legendary artist in the upcoming film The Thrill Is On. Pierce had this to say when announcing his casting:
The film will actually center on the friendship between King and musician Michael Zanetis who is penning the script alongside Melora Donoghue. No director has been named yet or any other casting revealed. Stay tuned!
