"Willow" Sequel Series Confirmed

Writer: Nicholas E. LauerNicholas E. Lauer

Over a year ago, a sequel series to Willow was teased by the original film's director Ron Howard. Now, it's officially been greenlit by Disney+, making it the first non-Star Wars project done by Lucasfilm since the company was bought by Disney in 2015. The original focused on Willow, a reluctant farmer who must protect a baby from a tyrannical queen who vows to destroy the child and take over the world. It was written by Bob Dolman, based off a story by George Lucas (Who also produced the film).

While the series is set to introduce new characters, original star Warwick Davis will once again play the titular character Willow Ufgood while Howard will return as an executive producer alongside film director Jon M. Chu who will helm the pilot. Jonathan Kasdan and Wendy Mericle will serve as showrunners. It's not been confirmed whether any of the other film's stars will return such as Val Kilmer or Joanne Whalley. However, production is confirmed to begin next year. Stay tuned!
