2019's Midsommar has a unique premise. Described by director Ari Aster as "a breakup movie dressed in the clothes of a folk horror film." Although that's not how it was pitched to him. According to Aster, he had been approached by B-Reel executives to helm a slasher film set in Sweden. He actually rejected this initial idea as he felt he "had no way into the story." However, after Aster suffered a bad breakup in his personal life, it was from this heartbreak that Aster ultimately devised a plot in which the two central characters are experiencing relationship tensions verging on a breakup. And now...well...remember the brown bear's body. Stay tuned!
